Can Fish Oil Give Beautiful Skin?
by: Larry L. Taylor

Can fish oil give beautiful facial skin? Studies have said yes. What make fish oil so good for the skin and for our health?

Some people are skeptical about the benefits of increasing our intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Scientists are trying to explain exactly why a single nutrient would be so important to our health. They have many theories. Some are more unusual than others. For example, the "water-dwelling ape theory" is a bit unusual.

But, regardless of how or why it happened, many of the body's systems are dependent upon omega-3 fatty acids. Without them, we suffer from symptoms minor and serious.

Taking fish oil for facial skin dryness is one of the minor or less important benefits, but for someone that suffers from excessive dryness, it is very important. So, it's all relative.

Having beautiful facial skin may seem like simply a matter of aesthetics. But, we know that a healthy, well-nourished body glows.

While there are a number of things that we don't understand about "why" omega-3 fatty acids are so important, we do understand why they are important for moist, soft, healthy and beautiful facial skin. It has to do with the composition of sebum.

Sebum is the skin's natural moisturizer, lubricant and protector. It has slight antibacterial activity, too. When people suffer from excessive dryness, it is due to decreased production of sebum, which is primarily composed of fatty acids.

The benefit of taking fish oil for facial skin tightening undoubtedly has to do with improving the skin's moisture content, but something else must be going on, too. Researchers have yet to discern what that "something" is, but they have seen a 10% improvement in firmness after only three months of daily supplementation.

Other nutrients are important to beautiful facial skin, too. Protein is needed to build new cells and fibers. Vitamin C is a necessary co-factor for strong elastic fibers. Deficiency in the vitamins A or E is associated with acne, eczema and other unwanted conditions. So, we can't say that taking fish oil for facial skin will solve all of your problems. It's just a good idea.

Because of all of the other health benefits, which include a reduced risk of heart disease, type II diabetes, arthritis and other age-related conditions, supplementation is a really good idea. It might be possible to get enough vitamin A, C and E through diet alone. It's pretty easy to get enough protein, too. But, the modern diet has been stripped of omega-3 fat. Researchers believe that is the cause of what they refer to as "modern illnesses".

Personally, I consider beautiful facial skin a bonus. My primary interests have to do with my long-term health. But, the short-term benefits have been important to me, too. Before I started taking fish oil for facial skin improvement, I frequently suffered from bouts of depression and anxiety, but not anymore. So, stop being skeptical! Look better and feel better with omega3 fish oil
