Update from Melvin!

Update from Melvin!

Thankful Thursday

Posted: 27 Jan 2010 09:32 PM PST

I wanted to take this day to write out a full and complete thank you for all of Melvin's fans, friends, and random readers.

When I began writing Melvin's blog, I had no idea of the amount of people that I would meet and become close to. Many of you that I have met through the Cat Blogosphere have become like family.

The only regret I have is that during the course of Melvin's blog, SO much has gone on! Thankfully, I've had all of you to support me through the good and the bad, and to marvel at Melvin's blunders and achievements with me. I've learned so much, not only about cats, but about the good will of the human being. I never once thought that so many people could be so generous, and yet you never failed to amaze me during so many hard times. Between raising money to help Melvin live to helping Grumpy Wilfred and his family have a good Christmas. You are all absolutely wonderful people and I am so thankful to have met each and every one of you.

Through my current hard times, I have struggled a lot to keep up with contacting you all and leaving comments, but I assure you that I have visited each of your blogs and read each of your emails. I've kept up with all of your Facebook statuses and each of your Twitters. I've watched all of your videos and marveled at all of your artwork. And between all of this, I can honestly say that all of YOU have made my days brighter and made things a little bit easier. So I want to thank you, and Melvin and Zoey and Pebbles, if they could talk, would thank you, too. And Ryan, little Ryan, he has enjoyed viewing all of this right along with me when he could. His love for animals and respect for living creatures has grown in leaps and bounds.

In news with Melvin, I'm not sure if I have some good news or bad news. In my visit home, I was giving my usual kisses to the little munchkin and had felt a very hard lump on his lip area. I looked a little bit closer and found a small lump on the inside of his cheek that spread out beyond his lips. I am not sure what it could be from at this point, so Melvin will be visiting the white-coat rather soon. I tried to take a picture of it, but who knows if you all can see what I'm talking about.

If you look right below my finger you will see an exposed fleshy area that someone resembles a hole. Hopefully it's nothing, but with all the problems that he already has, who knows? By the way, Melvin fought tooth and nail with me to keep from getting that picture taken. I'm almost sure he feels that his glamour is going to decrease in some way if I show off his flaws. Also, I'm seriously considering shaving Melvin's floof off into a lion-cut. I cannot expect everyone to keep up with his bathing ritual and while I'm not feeling well, I just feel that it will be the best option. Owning a cat that can't lift his bottom up when he uses the litter box can be quite the hassle when you aren't feeling 100%. As much as I love his gorgeous hair, I'm thinking that we'll have to trade it in for a gorgeous sweater while I'm feeling under the weather.

I will definitely be taking pictures if this does come into effect.

Also, I want to thank everyone that downloaded Melvin's Toolbar and took part in it. I have since changed it a bit to include a message bar that updates with all of the most recent news and ever-changing links to kitties in need. I am asking ALL of you to be a part of the new toolbar community, as the chat feature and RSS feature is becoming quite the hit! Also, if you would like to be added to the feed list, please email me ASAP.

What are you thankful for, this Thursday?
