Dog costume contest. Win a Halloween costume for your dog or cat

PetSmart tells us that more than 13 million families will dress their pets up for Halloween. That’s a lot of pets wandering around in disguise! Will your dog or cat be one of them? If so, here’s your chance to win a costume. PetSmart has offered a cat or dog costume for one of our readers (a reader’s pet, actually!). The person (and pet!) who win, will get to choose their own costume, and PetSmart has many cat and dog Halloween costumes to choose from! Archie (above) and Lydia (below) are modeling a sample of one of the costumes up for grabs.

In addition to the costume we’ll be giving away, here’s what PetSmart is doing to celebrate Halloween:

  • PetSmart's "Scare Your Way into a PetSmart Commercial" photo contest on Facebook, where one lucky pet will win an appearance in a national television commercial that will air in 2011. Pet parents can enter starting today by visiting www.facebook.com/PetSmart and uploading a photo of their pet decked out in their Halloween best, and the winner, voted on by the Facebook community, will be announced on November 1.
  • PetSmart's annual in-store Howl-O-Ween event sees pets compete for cutest costumes and parade around the store. It will be held on Saturday, October 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time in participating PetSmart stores around the nation.

So, back to our contest…

To enter (and it doesn’t get much easier than this!) . . .

. . .  post a message below telling us how cute your cat or dog is and why you’d like to win. For a bunus entry, go to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/petsitusa and post a picture of your pet. We’ll take entries until midnight, October 12, and then pick a winner at random on October 13. (No, it’s not a Friday the 13th – wouldn’t that be perfect for the month of October though?)

See our contest rules here.

Ok . . . now it’s up to you – let’s hear your kitty and doggie stories!
